Last week, I was out of town for work and too busy to train. Yep. The girl who literally puts training on her iphone calendar just couldn’t get to the gym. I wasn’t amused but I accepted my reality…and survived. I wrote about the experience and the importance of keeping it all in perspective (something I’m still working on) in my blog, The Long Haul.
If you’ve been a loyal reader since the beginning, you have figured out that I take my training seriously. And, because my lifestyle includes frequent travel, I’ve become accustomed to training away from the comfort and familiarity of my home gym/coach/team. However, in the beginning, this wasn’t always true. There were definitely times when being the new and/or only girl in a weight room was both intimidating and awkward. I eventually decided that (male) curiosity and attention was something I should expect. Apparently guys are not used to seeing a girl (especially a 43 year old mom like me) lifting heavy….and that’s when I wrote my blog Swagger, just over a year ago.
If you’ve not read it, I hope you will take a minute to look back with me. It’s funny the difference a year can make.
