Nationals

The national meet is over but we are still riding the high from our accomplishments. It was a day full of excitement, anticipation and anxiety. In a lot of ways, we wanted to treat it like any other day in the gym; we had trained hard and knew we were physically ready. But, we also had to “show up” mentally if we wanted to set national records.

As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words” so we decided to tell our story through our photos.

We started our day with a good breakfast of eggs & bacon

Pre-squat game faces

Squats are always first and the most intimidating lift for most of us but Emily and Missy have their game face ready.

Wraps help protect our knees & give us just a bit of a "bounce" in the hole

Jim had to wrap our knees for every lift with little to no time between us. Wraps help protect our knees & give us just a bit of a “bounce” in the hole

We had very little time between squat and bench. Here Missy is in the warm-up area working up to a weight just below her opener.

Knee socks are required for the deadlift to protect your shins. We use baby powder on our legs to prevent friction or the bar getting "stuck"

Don't misread Suzanne's body language....she intends to kick some ass.
