Go, Go, Green Smoothie!

During pregnancy, it’s important to get your leafy greens! The texture and flavor don’t┬ámake me want to eat them every day, so an easy way to get the nutrients is through a green smoothie. However, this in itself can be difficult to encourage yourself to imbibe, since it’s not the normal color of something you would drink. It took me a while to find a recipe that I liked, but I finally did! It’s really easy to make, and there’s no added sugar.

The recipe calls for a frozen banana, but I’ve found it’s just as good with a fresh one. I also upped the milk by a quarter of a cup, and I use low-pasteurized whole milk instead of almond milk. And, thanks to my creative hubby (who greeted me at the airport after my trip back north for baby showers with a yummy smoothie), I now add half of an avocado. Makes it extra nutritious and creamy! You could even add your protein powder.

  1. I love this smoothie too!!! It’s unfortunately the only way I get my kids to eat greens too these days.

      It’s good that they’re getting their greens! I know I mentioned I like the no added sugar, but sometimes you just need chocolate (especially if you’re preggo). I added a 1/3 cup of melted Enjoy Life chocolate chips to mine the other day and it was YUMMY! It didn’t look great, but it tasted good.
