It’s that time of year again, the time when we all shop, decorate and cook lots of yummy food for friends and family. Amongst all of the chaos and busy schedules there are favorite family traditions. Several of us grew up with fun family traditions that centered around eating. Not that we really need a reason to get together, but what better reason than to eat? The Miss Fits are making our own traditions, with the holidays being no exception. This year we thought we’d put a new spin on a traditional cookie exchange. Now I know what you’re thinking…you all are going to eat cookies? YES, and lots of them! Who doesn’t love cookies??
What made our cookie exchange different were the ingredients we chose to use. Almost every cookie was gluten free, and Paleo-ish. Each of us either had a favorite Paleo goodie recipe or a recipe or two that has been a staple in someone’s family. Exchange a few ingredients here and there and presto, you have a slightly healthier version of a great treat. We all made sure to make enough so that each one got at least three to four cookies of each variety. This is a fun way to try new and different goodies.
Most of the time, we really pay attention to what we put into our bodies, but everyone needs those days where you just treat yourself. It’s good to occasionally indulge, especially when working so hard in the gym. It was a sight to see as each one of us opened our containers full of our goodies! You could feel the excitement in the air. It was much like that of a child opening a present on Christmas morning. Only maybe with a little added drool from the mere anticipation of tearing into each one. There were so many variations. As you can see they looked so yummy!
The other pregnant Miss Fit Kim had fully planned on being a part of this night even though it was so close to her due date. About 10 min or so before we were suppose to gather to do our exchange, there was a text that she wasn’t feeling so well but her hubby was going to bring the cookies she made. A few hours later a baby Miss Fit was born!!
And we could never forget Jim, our trainer! He does the best Cookie monster impressions. Goes perfect while we eat all the cookies!
