I have been struggling since the meet in June. I can’t seem to shake the feeling of being at a complete standstill in my lifting. I have these muscles and obviously have forgotten how to use them correctly. Let’s call it a “BRAIN FART”!
Don’t get me wrong, I have no intentions of giving up. Sarah Martin, our in house physical therapist, is giving me the tools I need to fix the problems I’ve been having. I have been given exercises to specifically trigger the muscles I need to work on and instructions to do them daily, especially on training days.
I know there isn’t one of us who hasn’t needed Sarah at some point and time during our powerlifting journey. She is a very important part in our success and when we fail she is there to let us know exactly how to fix it, helping us become better athletes by utilizing what we have trained so hard for. I have always felt like physical therapy was a big waste of time… BOY WAS I WRONG!! She has helped us all learn to correctly use our bodies to prevent pain and injury. No matter how old I get, I am constantly learning new things about myself and I am thoroughly surprised, at 45, what my body is capable of! I am addicted to being strong!
I deadlifted tonight for the first time in 7 weeks and it felt great! Even though the bar wasn’t loaded heavy, my form was better than ever. I’ll continue to work hard with Sarah and Jim to correct my issues and inch my way closer to that 300# deadlift! Thank you Sarah for all of your help. I couldn’t do it without you!
